Help! I Need Somebody. Help! Not Just Anybody … (well, ok)

Tomorrow is the last day of school for our daughter and the school uniform she’s worn all year is not to be found.  How can that be?

It’s an important day and the uniform is not an option.  At 8 p.m., what do we do?

We reach out.  And you know what … ?

Nothing beats the feeling of being helped.  The feeling of someone reaching out, sharing, giving, or assisting you is so fulfilling.

I sent a quick email to a few other families in our daughter’s class and – voila –  an extra uniform which a classmate’s older sister used to wear will be waiting for my daughter when she arrives at 8 a.m.

The smile on my daughter’s face, that look of relief, was priceless.  And that golden result can come from so many little examples of people helping others:

– A friend made me laugh at lunch on Monday.  Felt great!
– A friend sent me a link to an amazing video this morning.  Inspired me.
– A friend of a friend agreed to have coffee with me and spent more than an hour chatting, asking, and discussing work issues with me. HUGE help!
– My wife, wow – every day – makes me feel loved. What greater gift is there?

So I’m going to help someone today so they can feel that feeling.  Join me!
